Julie and Julia

I saw a preview this morning for the new movie Julie and Julia, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. The movie is based on the book (which is based on the blog) Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, and it is interspersed with scenes from Child's life.

I am SO excited to see this movie! I read My Life in France, Julia Child's autobiographical collaboration with her nephew Alex Prud'Homme, not too long ago, and I loved it so much I was inspired to purchase her ever-so-famous first cookbook, The Art of French Cooking. I made her recipe for garlic soup as soon as the book arrived, but unfortunately my effort was deemed by both Joe and myself as a dismal failure. I'm looking forward to getting back into it and trying some more recipes.

A little shout out to blogs, because apparently this is the first movie based on a blog, or so says the New York Times here.
Have a beautiful day!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll play this one over here.

My husband & I are stationed at Camp Humphries, Pyeongtaek, South Korea and this would've definitely been a movie for me & my sister.

Best wishes from an overseas Army wife,
Jennifer

Oh my gosh,
does ANYONE recognize the cookbook on the right (the wallpaper looking one)???
come on country girl,
didn't we have that in our kitchen growing up? I remember having to watch julia child on tv. what a unique voice she had. I never remember Mom actually cooking anything from it.

Oh, and btw, the movie really does look good. Meryl does a great job with that distinctive voice. I'll have to watch for it.

Your (fav) aunt!!!

Oh. My. Gosh. I thought that cookbook looked familiar, Judy. YES! We had that in our kitchen. I think mom used to read it. Maybe someone gave it to her as a gift. Are you sure she never made anything with it?

I also can't wait to see this. And I think it's funny how actors stick together (Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams in Doubt). Also too Casey Wilson is in this. I like her.
