Maria Kalman love

I'm really in love with Maira Kalman's New York Times blog And the Pursuit of Happiness. It is such a clever mix of deep thoughts and whimsy illustrated by sketches and paintings. The storytelling aspect makes it fun and readable while still being informative and creative.

This is my favorite tile. I'm not quite sure why I find it so amusing, but I really do. She should sell some of these babies as postcards.

Up To My Ears

Today I've been steeping with inspiration. Sewing projects and paintings and crafts, etc etc. The problem is, whenever I have all these seemingly brilliant ideas I sort of lose them as the day wears on. I may not have the necessary materials on hand, or I may start and lose focus.

I've been itching to start a blog for ages, but now seems like a good time, I suppose. I'm not expecting anyone to actually read it. It will be a good forum for myself to compile photos and sketches and recipes and ideas. And if anyone does happen to come across it, perhaps it will spark some creativity.

Now I'll leave you with some beautiful examples of stitching and quilting. Have a beautiful day!
